Accolades: Robert Duran, Lynne Kelly, Michael Morris
Posted 5/18/2005
Robert L. Duran and Lynne Kelly, professors in the School of Communication, presented a paper titled “Exploring Online vs. Face-to-Face Relationships and the Role of Hyperpersonal Communication in Their Development” to the Eastern Communication Association’s annual conference.
Judged the top paper in the Human Information Technologies Division, Duran and Kelly’s presentation reported on research comparing differences in interpersonal communication variables (e.g., self-disclosure, friendship, intimacy) between online and face-to-face relationships.
Michael Morris
Goodspeed Opera House’s production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, orchestrated by Michael Morris, director of music for The Hartt School Theatre Division, received a very positive review from the Hartford Courant’s Malcolm Johnson.
The Goodspeed revival “turns out to be rousingly sung and spectacularly danced in a production that surpasses the 1954 MGM musical,” Johnson wrote. “Goodspeed’s Michael P. Price has sought to breathe new life into Seven Brides, and with its tight direction, canny arrangements and orchestrations and rip-roaring dancing, he has nearly succeeded in refurbishing a new work for the Broadway canon.”
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers continues through June 26 at the Goodspeed Opera House, Route 82, East Haddam, Conn.
