Professor John Feierabend, director of the Music Education Division of The Hartt School and director of the National Center for Music and Movement in the Early Years, was a guest on the nationally syndicated radio show, "The Parents' Journal," that was broadcast on Sunday, May 11. In the lengthy interview, Feierabend talked about the many developmental benefits for infants and toddlers that come from parents singing to them and playing musical games with them.

Professor of Physics Laurence I. Gould was interviewed on FOX 25 in Boston for a special report, titled "Overreacting to Global Warming," which aired on May 9. See the story featuring Gould.

The Lyme (Conn.) Times ran a story about Old Lyme resident Anna Smith, a member of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). Smith and other volunteers have partnered with the University of Hartford’s EWB student chapter, which recently designed and installed a solar-powered well in the village of Abheypur, India. Smith and other EWB members will join members of the University of Hartford group on a follow-up trip to Abheypur this summer. Read the story.

On his WTIC-AM radio show on May 10, Stan Simpson talked about the inaugural Jackie McLean International Arts Festival, to be held on May 16 and 17 in Hartford. Simpson and his guest, Melonae’ McLean, daughter of the late jazz great Jackie McLean and one of the organizers of the festival, talked about the all the people and organizations that came together to make this festival happen, including Mark George, director of the Hartt School Community Division, and the faculty and students of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at The Hartt School.

Hillyer College Dean David Goldenberg was featured in a photograph in the "Accolades" section of the May 12 issue of the Hartford Business Journal. Goldenberg, a board member of the Hartford Children's Theatre, joined other HCT board members in taking Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez on a tour of the newly renovated Carriage House Theatre.
