The show, which first aired on May 16, was a discussion of the presidential campaign and analysis of the contest between Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. McMiller also talked about the issues that he said have not been given adequate discussion in the campaign, such as fighting poverty and reducing inequality in the criminal justice system
Jilda Aliotta , chair of the department of politics and government in the College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a Hartford Courant article about an inappropriate joke e-mail sent by a city employee in New Britain to other city officials. She said the joke, about Hindu women, undermines the appearance of fairness and impartiality in government and raises the question of whether Hindus are treated fairly by the tax department or other boards in town.
The story about Demetrios Giannaros, deputy speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives and a professor of economics in the Barney School of Business, presiding over the House one day in April was published in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Athens News, in the EIN news service, and many other places. Surprisingly, the story about the first Greek-born person to preside over a state legislative body was also published in the Trading Markets financial news. .
