The Hartt School Community Division is bringing its performing arts programs to Simsbury through a new satellite facility scheduled to open in September.

The satellite location, in the Simsmore Square shopping plaza on Route 10, will provide 4,000 square feet of new space, including two spacious dance studios with ten-foot ceilings and sprung floors. In addition, there will be eight music teaching rooms with Yamaha pianos provided by Falcetti Music. Two rooms will have baby grand pianos, and the rest will have uprights.

The Simsbury satellite, created to bring the Community Division closer to families in Simsbury, Avon, Canton and Granby, will house a range of programs for students ages birth through adult. A variety of dance classes will be offered for students ages 3 ½ through adult. Hartt’s First Steps in Music program, a music and movement program for students ages birth through 5 and their parents, will also be offered at the satellite, as well as a variety of private music lessons.

“The idea is to bring quality instruction in the performing arts in a fully equipped, prime facility in a convenient location to the Farmington Valley area,” said Michael Yaffe, director of the Hartt Community Division. “I am very excited to extend our reach so that more families may take advantage of the variety of programs that we offer.”

The Hartt Community Division of is one of the leading community arts schools in the country, serving approximately 2,800 students.
