Pet Policy Announced
Posted 7/6/2005
A policy regarding pets on campus was announced Tuesday by Beverly Maksin, vice president for finance and administration. Following is an email message that Maksin sent to faculty and staff.
July 5, 2005
Dear Colleagues,
In order to ensure a safe and well-maintained campus and to respect the rights of all members of our community, the university officers have approved regulations regarding pets on campus.
The policy is attached. As you will see, it allows pets on the University of Hartford campuses only while under the direct and immediate control of their owners, and it requires owners to clean up after their pets. With a few exceptions, such as guide dogs and other service animals, pets are not permitted in university buildings.
We appreciate and respect the important role that pets play in the lives of their owners. We also must respect the rights of those members of the university community who are not comfortable with animals in their workplace or residence hall.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Sincerely,
Beverly Maksin
Vice President for Finance and Administration
