PRSSA Members Visit Boston Communications Firm
Rain did not diminish the enthusiasm of the University of Hartford public relations students who recently got a behind-the-scenes look at Kortenhaus Communications in Boston. The students spent time speaking with Account Executive Jennie Freedman, a graduate of the School of Communication.
Freedman arranged the visit and set it up as a working session for the students.
"It was a great experience,” said Jessica Ruggles, PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) president. “Their client list was very extensive and they have done some great events and strategic planning for those clients.”
Freedman was able to share how so much of what they learn in the classroom will translate to the industry. “Small group dynamics, analysis, planning and of course writing, writing, writing,” she emphasized. “You must have a range of skills from public speaking to the willingness to be the greeter on the door at an event.”
“The students are now planning next year’s trip to New York along with other events,” said Ruggles. “We have some great ideas and it will be a busy year!”
