Hawks Achieve Academic Success

For the second straight year, University of Hartford student-athletes completed the academic year with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.0. The Hawks’ 2004-05 grade point average of 3.08 ranks behind only the University of Vermont (3.14) and the University of Maine (3.12) in the America East Conference.
Vermont won the America East Academic Cup with the highest grade point average in the 10-year history of the award, breaking the mark of 3.12 set by Maine last year.
Hartford also had four sports winners (teams with the highest grade point average in the conference): softball (3.23), men’s golf (3.24), men’s soccer (3.25) and women’s soccer (3.46). Both the men’s soccer team and the softball team have earned the top GPA in their sport for the past five years.
In addition, a total of 89 Hartford student-athletes were named to the 2004-05 America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll for earning grade point averages of 3.0 or higher. Thirty-eight Hartford student-athletes were also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll, acknowledging grade point averages of 3.5 or higher during the most recent athletic season.
The Hawks had the highest percentage of student-athletes named to the Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll (61.4 percent). Hartford, which also had the highest percentage during the fall semester (69.5 percent), had 146 of its 227 (64.3 percent) student-athletes earn grade point averages of 3.0 or higher during their athletic seasons in 2004-05.
