Boil Water Advisory Lifted
Posted 4/27/2009
The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) has lifted the boil water advisory for all towns. This means the University community can resume drinking tap water. According to the health department, the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) has thoroughly tested its distribution system and submitted the tests to the DPH for review. All tests met water quality standards. Based upon the review of this data, the DPH has rescinded the precautionary notice to boil water.
In an unrelated matter, the MDC is beginning its seasonal flushing program and in agreement with DPH, will prioritize the flushing to the affected towns, starting in Bloomfield. During the flushing operations, customers may experience cloudy or discolored water. The condition is temporary and does not pose a health hazard. If you experience cloudy or discolored water, it is recommended that you run the cold water in your bathtub or shower until the water runs clear.
Additional information is available on the MDC’s website: www.themdc.com and on the DPH website: www.ct.gov/dph.
The University appreciates the cooperation and understanding of everyone in the school community during this unexpected occurrence.
