The newly renovated Al-Marzook Field will make its debut on Friday, Sept. 2, when the women’s soccer team plays its first home game of the season at 7 p.m. against La Salle University.

The men’s soccer team, under new Head Coach Dan Gaspar, will have its home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., against the University of Massachusetts.

There will be a tailgating contest before each of the games, with a first-place prize of $100. All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative game program, Hartford pom-pom, and a chance to win other great prizes. In addition, there will be a post-game autograph session.

All regular season home athletic events are free to University of Hartford students, including the upcoming soccer games. For faculty and staff, tickets are $3 each. For more information or to order tickets, please contact the Athletics Box Office at 860.768.4295 or tickets@hartford.edu.

The renovation of Al-Marzook Field marks the first completed project in the university’s Home Field Advantage campaign. Construction of a baseball field and new softball field are currently under way.

The formal ribbon-cutting for the Home Field Advantage project will take place in late spring or summer of 2006. The Department of Athletics will hold a “soft opening” this fall, when alumni will return and pass a soccer ball to current student-athletes as a ceremonial “first kick.” In this way, the alumni will be passing the field along to the next generation.

Come celebrate the new Al-Marzook Field at the opening home soccer games, and show your support for our student-athletes and for these important new facilities!
