Journal Inquirer Features Family of Community Division Dance Students

The Aug. 19 edition of the Journal Inquirer profiled four members of a family who take classes at The Hartt School Community Division. Teresa Clark, Kimberly Walsh, Allison Mador and Sadie Keery all praised their dance classes, saying "once you start you're hooked," "it's good mental and physical exercise," and "it's exercise you want to do."

University President Walter Harrison talked about the upcoming school year in the Hartford Courant's Java column on Aug. 21. Harrison said "it's already started for me. The RAs arrived today and about 1,684 freshmen will arrive next week and then be joined by another 31 or 3,200 upperclassmen." Read the column on courant.com.

Geri Bernacki, a staff member in ENHP's respiratory care department, was quoted on philly.com. the website of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. Bernacki spoke about her job as a respiratory therapist. "The average age of a respiratory therapist is about 40-45," said Bernacki. "We need to inspire younger, energetic people to come into the field." Read the article on philly.com.

Randi Ashton-Pritting, director of University Libraries, was quoted in the Waterbury Republican-American on Aug. 18. Ashton-Pritting, who also serves as the president of the Connecticut Library Association, spoke about how Governor Rell's proposed library funding cuts would hit small libraries hard. Steve Davis, assistant professor of jazz at The Hartt School and a renowned jazz trombonist, was featured on recordnet.com, the website for The Record newspaper of Stockton, Calif on Aug. 14.
