Auditions will be held on September 8 and 9 for Sophie Treadwell's Machinal, a joint production by the University of Hartford's Dramatis Personae and Saint Joseph College’s Queenes Companye.

The play, written in 1928, is about a young woman who murders her husband, in part because of the stifling laws and customs of a male dominated society.

This marks the first joint production between the A&S drama minor and the Queenes Companye, the drama organization at Saint Joseph College.

The play will be performed for two weekends in November – one weekend at the University of Hartford and one weekend at Saint Joseph College.

Auditions are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in Auerbach Auditorium (Hillyer Hall) on the University of Hartford campus;

– or on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. in The Bruyette Athenaeum’s 2nd floor reception room on the Saint Joseph College campus.

Callbacks will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. in Auerbach Auditorium (Hillyer Hall) at the University of Hartford.
