Giannaros Discusses Financial Crisis on WTIC-AM

Demetrios Giannaros, professor of economics in the Barney School of Business, was interviewed on WTIC radio (1080 AM) on Friday, Sept. 4. Giannaros talked about the financial crisis and what Americans have learned from it. You can listen to the interview on wtic.com.

Giannaros, who also is Deputy Speaker of the State House of Representatives, was quoted in the Hartford Courant's "Capitol Watch" blog on Aug. 31. Giannaros said that because this recession has been the worst since World War II "we cannot blame the governor or the state legislature for what has happened to the state budget over the last year and a half." William Stull, a professor of English in Arts & Sciences, and Maureen P. Carroll, an adjunct faculty member, were mentioned in the New York Times on Sept. 3. Stull and Carroll edited the recently published Carver: Collected Stories, which contains all of Raymond Carver's stories published during his lifetime, four stories that were never collected and five that were discovered after his death. Humphrey Tonkin, University president emeritus, was a guest on WTIC-AM's "Mornings with Ray Dunaway" on Sept. 3. Tonkin talked about the President's College Showcase, a day of lectures and classes that is coming up on Sunday, Sept. 13. You can listen to the interview on wtic.com.
