The Sugar Plum Fairy will make a special appearance at the Sept. 12 event.
The Hartt Community Division will host a "Magical Dance Tea Party" for children ages 3 through 9 and their families on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. This free event will take place at the Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway (corner of Albany Avenue) in Hartford.

Activities will include a free dance class, an elegant tea (juice) party, crafts, and the opportunity to have your photo taken with the Sugar Plum Fairy, star of The Nutcracker ballet; and Howie the Hawk, the intrepid mascot of the University of Hartford.

In addition, children will receive balloons, a discount certificate for Community Division dance classes, and other free gifts.  Children will get to experience the joy of a children's ballet class and parents will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the Hartt Community Division professional dance faculty.

No reservations are necessary. For more information, contact the Hartt Community Division dance department at (860) 768-6000 or e-mail dancedesk@hartford.edu.
