Study Abroad Office Seeks Graduate Assistant

The Study Abroad Office is seeking a mature, professional, and detail-oriented graduate assistant to help with the scheduling and logistics of short-term study abroad courses, along with the general promotion of study abroad on campus. The individual must have excellent organizational, office and communication skills. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience studying, traveling and/or working abroad.
The candidate must be admitted as a matriculated, full-time student in a graduate program of study. The position is for the 2009-10 academic year. A second year appointment may be offered if employment and academic responsibilities are satisfactorily met.

Required Qualifications
– Office experience, proficient computer skills to include Word and Excel
– Excellent communication skills and ability to handle considerable detail is a must
– Ability to work well with faculty, students, and companies
– Must work accurately and independently while handling multiple responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
– Experience with budgets or financial accounting course
– Experience in creating and designing promotional materials
– Experience studying, traveling or working abroad
Specific Responsibilities
– Assist the Study Abroad Office in organizing all aspects of short-term courses
– Work with program providers and faculty to facilitate the logistics of short-term courses
– Maintain detailed documents and files for all short-term programs
– Provide faculty and students with all appropriate materials before departure
– Create advertising materials for programs
– Remain knowledgeable about all overseas sites and providers
– Assist in maintaining the office budget
– Assist faculty with logistics abroad when required
– Make presentations to diverse audiences about study abroad
