Over the last two weekends, the University of Hartford athletics teams, coaches, and staff members – under the leadership of head women’s basketball coach Jennifer Rizzotti – have initiated a campus clean-up in an effort to raise student-athlete awareness for the “Committed to Community” initiative.

Last month, University President Walter Harrison unveiled a statement of shared values for the University community, and announced a new initiative to incorporate those values into the daily life of the institution. The recent "Report of the Values Committee" cited “Respect for place, property and one another” as a shared value at the University of Hartford.

The clean-up efforts by the entire Athletics Department are just a small way of showing commitment toward the betterment of the University. Hartford athletics teams will continue the weekend clean-ups throughout the fall. Additional support from the University of Hartford community is welcomed.

Anyone wishing to pitch in should contact Chris Sanford in the Athletics Department at 860-768-4653 or csanford@hartford.edu.

Students who are interested can also meet the athletics teams in front of the Sports Center at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday and/or Sunday.
