Tim Black, associate professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences and director of the University's Center for Social Research, was a guest on WNPR's "Where We Live" on Thursday, Oct. 1. Black discussed his book, When a Heart Turns Rock Solid: The Lives of Three Puerto Rican Brothers On and Off the Streets, and the 18 years of research that went into the book. University President Walter Harrison was quoted in the Hartford Courant on Sept. 25. Harrison was asked how he felt about being mentioned as a candidate for president of the NCAA. Harrison said "I'm very committed to what I am doing [at the University]. I've always thought of myself as an educator and I would have to think about how to balance that with being head of the NCAA. So, if and when somebody approaches me ... then I'll worry about it. Right now, I'm flattered to be considered." Read the rest of the story on courant.com.

John Ogilvie, associate professor of management in the Barney School of Business, was quoted in the Hartford Business Journal on Sept. 28.
