Purchasing Announces New Bid Limits

The Purchasing Department has announced that new bid requirements are in effect as of October 12, 2009.
Following are highlights of the new bid requirements. To see the complete revised bid policy, click here.
No Quote
Existing: $0 to $1,499
Changes to: $0 to $1,499
One Quote
Existing: $1,500 to $2,999
Changes to: $1,500 to $4,999
Three Quotes Minimum
Existing: $3,000 and over
Changes to: $5,000 and over
Blanket Orders
Existing: $5,000 and over
Changes to: $15,000 and over
Exception – Facilities
Three Quotes Minimum
Existing: $3,000 and over
Changes to: $7,500 and over
New:
Departments – New vendors require w-9's. Independent contractors must complete the Independent Contractor form.
Bids and solicitations for goods or services vendor completed by the requesting authority or department do not eliminate the responsibility to determine "fair and reasonable" pricing. Depending on the complexity of the intended procurement, determination of best value should include, but is not limited to, competing price quotations and/or references to purchases related to the University's negotiated contracts listed on the Purchasing website. The requesting authority or Department shall submit documentation supporting purchases (paper or electronic) to Purchasing along with the requisition.
Note: Purchasing reserves the right to seek additional information or quotes for any requisitions submitted to Purchasing. Departments submitting quotes for purchases over $5,000 (Facilities $7,500) must have used a format approved by Purchasing prior to obtaining quotes.
