Giannaros Discusses Economy on Fox 61 and NBC Connecticut

Demetrios Gianaros, an economics professor in the Barney School of Busines, was featured in a New England Cable News (NECN) story about the Dow nearing the 10,000 mark on Oct. 12. Giannaros said there are signs the recession is over. Watch the story on necn.com.

Giannaros was also interviewed by NBC Connecticut's Tom Moynihan. Giannaros talked about the impact of falling slot machine revenue on the state's budget.

The University's first case of H1N1 received extensive media attention on Oct. 12 and 13. Spokesperson David Isgur appeared on Fox 61 to describe the University's plan to prevent further spread of the illness. Isgur was also interviewed by the Hartford Courant, NBC Connectict, WFSB-TV, and WTIC-AM.

Mary Jane Williams, associate professor and chair of the division of nursing in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, was interviewed by NBC Connecticut on Monday, October 12, for a story on a recent $5 million grant the state received that will more people to be trained for careers in nursing.

Susan Coleman, a professor of economics in the Barney School of Business, was quoted in the Record-Journal on Oct. 10. Coleman said the insurance industry in Hartford is strong and will continue to be. Speaking about The Hartford not eliminating positions, Coleman said "the really good news is that The Hartford wants to keep those people and keep that talent.
