Benjamin Toth, professor of percussion, The Hartt School, will perform “Blazer,” a solo for snare drum, at the 2005 Percussive Arts Society International Convention on Nov. 2, to be held at the Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. The concert will be the culmination of the convention’s “Focus Day,” titled “Music for a Crowded Planet,” featuring works for solo percussionist with one instrument.
In December, Toth will be premiering David Macbride’s percussion concerto, One Revolution, with the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, Christopher Zimmerman conducting. Macbride is professor of composition and music theory at Hartt. The performance will be on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln Theater.
