Ken Steen, associate professor of music theory and composition at The Hartt School, has been awarded a 2005 Artist Fellowship by the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism to complete his piano trio titled Memos to Mr. Palomar.

The 2005 Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Commission Gallery, 755 Main Street, One Financial Plaza, Hartford. Guest of honor at the event will be author Wally Lamb, a former recipient. The event is free and open to the public.

The commission awards grants to artists from across the state to support their continuing artistic development and enable them to devote substantial time to the creation of new and important work. The Fellows are selected by panels of professional peers.

Funding for the program is provided by the state of Connecticut and the National Endowment for the Arts.
