Keshawarz on WNPR, Robinson in USA Today

Saleh Keshawarz, associate professor of civil engineering, CETA, and a native of Afghanistan, did an interview with Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR) from Herat, Afghanistan, on Thursday, Dec. 3. The interview was broadcast on Thursday morning as a local news segment during NPR's "Morning Edition." Keshawarz, who is currently on sabbatical in Afghanistan, talked about the likely impact of President Obama's new strategy in Afghanistan, the progress of infrastructure improvements in the country, and the University of Hartford's partnership with the University of Herat.

Michael Robinson, assistant professor of history in Hillyer College and an expert on exploration, was featured in USA Today on Nov. 28. The article asked the question "Should NASA's Mars Rover be compared to Columbus?". The USA Today story goes on to quote an article in the current issue of the journal, Space Policy, in which Robinson and Daniel Lester of the University of Texas say, "For too long we have looked at the history of exploration selectively, seeking to find the antecedents which justify our own vision of exploration: as science, as human adventure, as geopolitical statement. Timothy Chambers, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Philosophy, A&S, wrote an op-ed piece that ran in the Hartford Courant on Nov. 22. Chambers wrote "valuable words need not report new facts. They can reassure us that we're not alone in our view of the world. They can salve our perplexity in the face of a troubling world. Mary Silvia, a member of the women's basketball team, was profiled in Graham Hay's blog on ESPN's website on Nov. 28. Silvia scored 20 points, including six three-pointers, in a recent game against Temple. Read more on espn.com.
