Ambassador Warren Clark to Discuss Middle East Peace

All are welcome to a presentation by Ambassador Warren Clark at the University of Hartford on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 1:30 p.m. in East Hall room 105.

Ambassador Clark will speak to students as executive director of Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) about a peaceful, two-state solution to the Israel/Palestine crisis that provides a safe homeland for both groups. CMEP's website further explains the organization's views, at www.cmep.org.

Clark was a career U.S. Foreign Service officer in the Department of State, serving in the Middle East, Europe, Canada, Africa, and at the United Nations. He was Charge d’affaires in Lagos, Nigeria; the U.S. Ambassador in Libreville, Gabon; and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Africa in Washington. Clark worked on Middle East oil price negotiations, was Desk Officer for Libya, and represented the U.S. on the U.N. Security Council for Middle East and African issues. He led a study group on the Middle East at the Institute of Politics of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Ambassador Clark is being hosted by the University of Hartford's up-and-coming Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) club.SDS seeks a world in which all people have control over the decisions that affect their lives and access to the resources they need. Anyone is welcome to join or discuss current issues.

Meetings take place on the first and third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in Gengras Student Union. Drum circles are every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in front of Hillyer Hall.
