Regina Dowling Featured in Connecticut Law Tribune
Regina Dowling, director of the Paralegal Studies program, was featured in the Connecticut Law Tribune on Dec. 14. Some of Dowling's students are volunteering for the SLS Pardon Assistance Program. "In our program, we try to balance the academic side with hands-on [experience]," said Dowling. "Paralegals cannot give legal advice but they can fill out forms...The other side of the law is dealing with clients. Often times we deal with clients who we have nothing in common with... This provides students with that opportunity." Read more on ctlawtribune.com.
Bilal Sekou, an associate professor of political science in Hillyer College, was interviewed for story that ran on NECN (New England Cable News) on Dec. 15. Sekou talked about Senator Joe Lieberman's opposition to expanding Medicare. Watch the story on necn.com.
Brock Harris, an acting major in The Hartt School, was profiled in the Hartford Courant on Dec. 13. Harris has worked as a model for several companies, including Abercrombie & Fitch. "I'm just a kid going to acting school trying to find work," Harris told the Courant. "It's like having a job waiting tables. Besides, I really don't consider myself a model, 'cause I've only done a few things. I want to make a name for myself through acting, but I'll model as long as it works for me."
