The Hartt School Community Division opened a new branch in Simsbury this week, bringing its performing arts education programs to families in the Farmington Valley.
Located in Simsmore Square on Route 10, the facility provides 4,000 square feet of new space that includes two spacious dance studios with 10-foot ceilings and sprung floors. In addition, there are eight music teaching rooms with Yamaha pianos provided by Falcetti Music. A grand opening, with a ribbon cutting ceremony, is planned for Saturday, Nov. 5.

The Simsbury branch, created to bring the Community Division closer to families in Simsbury, Avon, Canton and Granby, houses a range of programs for students from birth through adult in a variety of areas. Dance classes will be offered for students ages 3 through adult.

Hartt’s First Steps in Music, a music and movement program for students from birth through age 5 and their parents, will also be offered at the Simsbury branch, along with a variety of private music lessons.

“The idea is to bring quality instruction in the performing arts in a fully equipped, prime facility in a location convenient to the Farmington Valley area,” says Michael Yaffe, director of the Hartt Community Division. “I am very excited to extend our reach so that more families may take advantage of the variety of programs that we offer.”
