Volunteers Sought for College Bowl Tournament
Posted 10/18/2005
Organizers of the Hartford College Bowl are looking for faculty, staff, and administrators to serve as volunteers at the campus tournament on Nov. 4.
There will be a College Bowl information/demonstration meeting for students on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Wilson Conference Center (WCC), Gengras Student Union. Anyone who is interested in volunteering is welcome to attend Wednesday’s meeting and see how the game works before the tournament.
The College Bowl is an academic quiz team competition. The campus tournament will take place on Friday, Nov. 4, from 2:30 p.m. until about 8 p.m. Volunteers are needed to serve as moderators, official scorers, announcers and reset timers for the tournament.
The campus tournament will determine the makeup of the Hartford College Bowl Team that will go into intercollegiate competition in February. The winner of the New England regional will then compete in the National Championship Tournament, which will be held here at the University of Hartford from April 21-23, 2006.
Volunteering at the campus tournament in November is an excellent opportunity to learn the game before the call for national tournament volunteers goes out in February.
