Hawks on Courant Front Page, Giannaros on WTIC-AM, Lou Manzione in Hartford Business Journal
The "Selection Show" party for the women's basketball team received extensive coverage as the players celebrated their at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. The team was featured on the front page of the Hartford Courant on March 16 and on a slideshow on courant.com. Fox CT, WFSB and NBC Connecticut also covered the party.
Demetrios Giannaros, a professor of finance in the Barney School of Business, spoke to several outlets about the Stanley Works merger with Black & Decker on March 12. He talked about the merger's possible economic impact on Connecticut during an interview on WTIC-AM. Giannaros called the merger "a very smart business deal" in articles in The Bristol Press and the New Britain Herald.
Lou Manzione, dean of the University's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, was highlighted in the "Career Ladder" section of the Hartford Courant and the "Movers & Shakers" section of the Hartford Business Journal, both on Monday, March 1. Manzione was recently elected as vice president/president-elect of the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering, and his two year term will begin on July 1. When that term ends, Manzione will automatically begin a two-year term as president of the Academy.
