University President Walter Harrison was mentioned in the Hartford Business Journal on June 28. Harrison is scheduled to speak during the July 15 session of the Rock Cats’ Young Professionals Networking Series. The article says "Harrison, an avid baseball fan who did his doctoral dissertation on the sport, plans to talk about his role as a business leader, his passion for baseball and his work with the National Collegiate Athletic Association. William Cianci, executive director of the Construction Institute was quoted in the Hartford Business Journal on June 28. Cianci spoke about the negative perceptions of the construction industry, including the idea that manual labor is for less educated people. Cianci said, “People aren’t going into it. Jennifer Rizzotti, head coach of the women’s basketball team, was featured in several media reports about the USA Women’s U18 National Team. Rizzotti coached the team to a gold medal at the recent championship in Colorado. Rizzotti told ESPN what she said to her players during the semi-final game: “It's never OK to give someone a wide-open shot, and I challenged them at the beginning of the fourth quarter. It shouldn't matter who we're beating or by how much -- you never settle." She was quoted on examiner.com saying, “I was nervous going into this process, and I know, looking back now at our margin of victory, that maybe I shouldn’t have been as nervous.” Rizzotti was also interviewed for KKTV 11 News in Colorado.
Dan Gaspar, head coach of the men’s soccer team, was quoted in the New York Daily News on June 29. Gaspar, who was the goalie coach for the Portuguese National Team in the World Cup, discussed the U.S. being eliminated from the tournament. He said, “I have mixed emotions about that…if they had made it to the next round it would have been a big boost to the game.” Read more on nydailynews.com.
