Len Milling, associate professor of psychology, A&S, and Anne M. McGinnis '04, published a peer-reviewed article titled “Psychological Treatment of Musical Performance Anxiety: Current Status and Future Directions” in the Fall 2005 issue of Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training.
The article provides a comprehensive review of empirical research on the effectiveness of psychological interventions for performance anxiety experienced by musicians. The article is based on a psychology honor's thesis prepared by McGinnis under the direction of Milling. McGinnis, a double major in A&S psychology and Hartt music education, now attends the Ph.D. program in school psychology at Penn State University.
