More Than 50 UofH Student-Athletes Honored by America East
A total of 53 University of Hartford student-athletes have received recognition as members of the America East Fall Academic Honor Roll. More than 60 percent of this group earned the highest distinction of Commissioner’s honors.
To be named to the fall or spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn grade point averages of 3.0 or higher in the previous semester. Those student-athletes who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are then denoted as members of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The women’s soccer team posted the highest number of individual student-athletes honored with 15 players earning honor roll distinction. Men’s soccer followed them with 13 members, while men’s cross country and volleyball each had nine members on the honor roll, while women’s cross country rounded out the list with seven honorees.
Of the 34 student-athletes that received commissioner’s honors, the men’s and women’s soccer teams led the way with each having eight of their players earning the highest honor. The volleyball team saw seven of their nine total honorees achieve the higher standard, while men’s cross country and women’s cross country finished with six and five, respectively.
The conference total of 634 student-athletes earning Academic Honor Roll status set a record for the fall honors, which dates back to the 1988-89 season. Two-thirds (66.4 percent) of the total number of 2010 America East fall student-athletes appear on the honor roll, the highest percentage of fall student-athletes since the fall of 2004. Each of America East’s nine full-time member institutions had at least 60 percent of its student-athletes named to the honor roll.
