What Should be Done with Two Sites Next to Campus? Give Your Opinion on Tuesday!
Notice to the University of Hartford Community
The City of Hartford’s Housing Authority is engaged in a master plan level assessment of the Westbrook Village and Bowles Park housing developments that abut the eastern boundary of the campus. Bowles Park faces the University athletic fields, and Westbrook Village sits at the Mark Twain Drive entrance to campus off Albany Avenue. This planning assessment will inform a Request for Proposal (RFP) for developer interest in redefining and redeveloping the two sites. All existing buildings are to be removed.
What would you like to see happen on these large neighboring sites? Are there uses that would benefit the University and its activities? Are there uses that would benefit your time at the University? Housing, retail, commercial and public facilities are all possibilities for being constructed. The Housing Authority, the mayor, and President Harrison have asked the consultants to survey the entire University of Hartford community. Please take this opportunity to make your views known.
Consultants to the Hartford Housing Authority will be on campus at the Gray Conference Center, Room A, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, to hear and discuss your ideas. Plan to stop by at any time between 10 and 2, and express yourself. If you can’t make that date please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
