Parents Program
Your support matters because students are provided life-changing experiences that they would not have otherwise received. Here are some other reasons your support is important.
In 2008 we built the Dorothy Goodwin Café to encourage the University to begin building a sense of community within the Mortensen Library walls. Never a day goes by that you do not see a faculty member meeting with one or a group of students, or students meeting with friends and group members. Knowing that faculty members often teach using the group project method, we designed and built collaboration pods (cPods). Groups of students can actually work on specially designed tables, 42-inch monitors, one computer, and multiple mice.
This project was so successful, we built two more this last summer, for a total of four on the main level of Mortensen Library. After listening to the students on how to improve the cPod, we are creating a specially designed room with more equipment that can host eight students with a larger, wall-mounted monitor and four smaller table-mounted monitors.
The library is a wonderful experience for our students and faculty. Information is at their fingertips. Reference assistance is available in person on site, with a phone call, or via e-mail, with even a 24/7 service. Libraries actually bring you the world. We help every student and faculty member every day. We are very grateful for our recent successes, but there is a constant need to maintain and expand our technology and resources in order to accommodate a growing student and faculty audience with diverse interests. Please help make our University libraries stronger by making a gift today.
Giving is a great way to stay in touch. Every mail appeal shows what information we have for you in our database. If anything changes, it gives you the opportunity to update that information. Up-to-date information allows us to send you invitations to parents, career services, athletics, and donor appreciation events.

Thank you for your support!
- Faculty, staff, and students rely on the University's fundraising efforts to expand their education and provide meaningful, real-world experiences that would not be possible through a standard operating budget.
- More than 7,000 full- and part-time students count on unrestricted scholarships to allow them to focus on their academics instead of worrying about one or more part-time jobs to help pay for their education.
Parents support the University libraries Libraries are the cornerstone of the communities they serve. The libraries at the University of Hartford are no exception. The dedicated staff hold multiple advanced degrees and are information experts capable of guiding our University community to the right information from the right source in any format. In the past few years we have witnessed increasing patron usage in our buildings. Our gate counts are exceeding 300,000 visits each year. We maintain more than 100 databases that are available 24/7 for our students and faculty. We have built a network of libraries within Connecticut and around the world to share resources. So if we do not own a resource, we can borrow for our patrons' needs.
