Course Release Policy
(Effective as of December 15, 2005)

The University would like to stimulate grant activity and facilitate faculty efforts to secure grants. As such, effective immediately, the amount charged to the external funding agency for course releases will be the estimated replacement costs (i.e., adjunct salary plus benefits) established by the college, rather than a portion of the faculty member's salary.

Full-time faculty teaching is central to the mission of the University of Hartford, and in some cases, the percentage of courses taught by full-time faculty is a factor in accreditation. Thus, the number of course releases, and the associated replacement costs, requested in grant proposals must be recommended by the dean of the college and approved by the provost.
