Overview:
Thanks to the Home Field Advantage Campaign (HFA), the University is now outfitted with state-of-the-art athletic fields for our soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and softball teams. These additions have increased our profile as a full-service university, advancing our reputation not just among Division I contenders but also among prospective students from across the country.

More than 800 donors gave to the HFA project, with the majority of gifts coming from alumni. Thirty-six donors joined the circle of commitment (gifts of $25,000 or more), led by Tom and Suzy Reich of West Hartford with their $2 million gift.

Phase I
Construction on phase I of the project involved the renovation of the existing soccer and lacrosse field (Al-Marzook Field), the relocation and construction of a softball field, and the construction of a baseball field. The University broke ground on the HFA project in April 2005, and by the fall of 2005, soccer games were being played on the renovated artificial-turf Al-Marzook Field. The baseball and softball fields opened 2006 along with a new snack bar. The final stage of phase I added a press box to Al-Marzook Field and installed a press box and bleachers at the baseball and softball fields.

Phase II: Still More To Do
The all-purpose field is in place, but we still need to convert it to artificial, all-weather turf and add an eight-lane track surrounding it, as well as to complete other general upgrades. The new field and track are an important resource for the entire student body, supporting individual wellness and underscoring the importance of healthy bodies as well as healthy minds. The new facilities will serve students, faculty, staff, and the Greater Hartford community. The HFA Phase II campaign is in the planning stage.

A Vital Link to the Community:
The University's location within West Hartford, Hartford, and Bloomfield makes it ideally suited to serve the surrounding population through general recreation facilities and through camps and clinics.
