About Our Gift Calculator
Any of our development officers at the University of Hartford would be happy to work with you or your adviser to create a "Deed of Gift" document that will provide the correct naming of your endowment fund and the appropriate designation of its uses and purposes.

Endowed Scholarship Funds

An endowed fund is formally established as soon as the university's initial gift minimum criteria have been met and a mutually satisfactory Deed of Gift has been executed and properly registered with the University's Office of Finance and Administration.

As each Deed of Gift states, "These gifts shall be invested, sold or reinvested, alone or in combination with other funds of the University of Hartford, but shall be separately identified by the name above. The principal shall be preserved intact, and the income and or net gain may be used at the discretion of the Regents to accomplish the foregoing purpose. For purposes of this gift, the term "income" shall include capital appreciation, realized and unrealized."

Revenue produced by each fund can be used to support scholarships, faculty and staff salaries and benefits, and myriad other financial needs of the University of Hartford. Based on a twelve-quarter rolling valuation average, the University's current spending policy is 4% annually (fiscal year 6/30-7/1).

In each successive year following a fund's establishment, donors and pre-selected family members receive reports from the University of Hartford highlighting principal growth, investment performance, and revenue produced.
