Student Scholarship and Faculty Development
Using a conservative annual spending policy of 4% of endowed principal, (based on a twelve-quarter rolling average), the University of Hartford draws from the endowment each year to support the purposes specified by the terms of each of its named endowed funds. In this example of an actual fund, you can see that the principal has grown within the fund, and so has the value of the annual revenue generated.

An increasing majority of University of Hartford students require some form of financial aid or scholarship award to be able to afford their tuition costs. Much of that need is provided in the form of tuition discounts. Only a small fraction of the aid awarded annually can actually be funded by the University’s endowment resources.

The Deans of the University of Hartford’s respective schools and colleges are constantly seeking to hire and retain the best qualified professors and staff members. Their success in this endeavor is limited only by the lack of readily available resources to fund the continued development of top-notch teachers.

Any donor may make current use annual gifts for the purpose of supporting either the scholarship or faculty/staff development programs, but it is also worthwhile to make a gift that will endow those same worthy purposes-- permanently-- at the University of Hartford.
