Connecticut Eastern Regional Games

Please report to your assigned venue at your assigned time.On May 11, 2013, the University of Hartford will host the Special Olympic Connecticut Eastern Regional Games. 700 athletes, 200 coaches and 400 volunteers will participate in 2 sports. This is the 10th straight year the University has hosted these Regional Games.
Opening Ceremonies will start at 9:00 AM at the University Sports Center. Aquatics will be held at the University of Hartford, and Hartford Public High School will be the site of the athletics competition. In addition, both will also provide an Olympic Town area, where athletes can enjoy music and arts and crafts activities as well as Awards areas where athletes receive their awards after they compete.
Hosting the Eastern Regional Games will create hundreds of opportunities for University students, staff and faculty to volunteer and get involved in this exciting event. Chris Grant and Sue Fitzgerald will serve as the Games Organizing Co-Directors and will be working closely with the Games Committee and the Eastern Regional staff. Over one dozen University staff members serve on the Organizing Committee. University President Walt Harrison is a strong supporter of Special Olympics Connecticut.
The SOCT/Eastern Region comprises 66 towns in 5 Connecticut counties: Hartford, Windham, Tolland, Middlesex and New London. It serves 1,900 athletes with intellectual disabilities and another 1,200 Unified Sports Partners. The Eastern Regional Games will be the largest Regional Competition this year.
