Adam Chiara is an Applied Associate Professor in the School of Communication and a multimedia storyteller. He teaches courses in social media, public relations, and digital media.

As an authority on media-related issues, he’s a skilled communicator who educates the public about evolving topics in the field of communication, especially social media. Whether in the classroom, on camera, in front of an audience, or in his writing, Chiara draws on his vast experience working in journalism, public relations, and politics.

As an award-winning journalist, Chiara has reported for several media outlets in the Hartford area. He currently contributes to CT News Junkie, a digital news site that covers state government and politics. He’s also frequently interviewed by news outlets for expert commentary and is a former contributor to The Hill, where he wrote about social media’s impact on politics and media.

Chiara has done public relations work for Yale University’s Rudd Center (now UConn Rudd Center), Universal Health Care Foundation, and most recently for McDowell Communications Group. In addition to journalism and public relations, he has a background in politics, public policy, and legislative process from the time he spent managing political campaigns and working at the Connecticut General Assembly.
