Before coming to the Hartford Art School in 2009, Karen enjoyed a variety of professional positions, each of which has helped to broaden her perspective on life. She operated a pre-school center; explored the country and nurtured environmental awareness as a park ranger assigned to North Cascades (Washington), Mammoth Cave (Kentucky), and Theodore Roosevelt (North Dakota) National Parks, and at Bird Rescue in Texas. She has worked as editor and director of communications for a non-profit agency, and also held the position of executive assistant for Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
