Kate Pendergast is vice president for development and alumni affairs, where she is responsible for leading a team that oversees all aspects of the University’s efforts for fundraising, alumni engagement, industry and community partnerships, and career services.

Prior to joining the University of Hartford in 2010, Kate served as executive director of the American Heart Association's New Hampshire Chapter, accountable for its strategic fundraising and corporate outreach efforts. She also directed corporate and community partnerships for the Capital Region Education Council (CREC).

Kate’s early career began in the corporate sector, as an account executive and member of the sales team for Los Angeles-based Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). There, she combined metric and solution-based sales principles with the fostering of client relations to successfully secure corporate sponsorships for professional sports franchises.

She has shared her advancement expertise as a panelist for events hosted by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), has served as mission speaker for the American Heart Association’s Infant CPR program, and co-chaired the University of Delaware’s reunion fundraising committee.

Kate holds a BA in English/journalism from the University of Delaware, where she was also a four-year member of the Women’s Soccer Team, and an MA in sport management from the University of Connecticut.
