Before coming to the United States, Branislav Kovacic, now an Associate Professor, was an investigative reporter for weekly magazines in Yugoslavia. He received a B.A. degree in Political Science and Journalism at Belgrade University and a Ph.D. in Sociology and Communication from the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. Kovacic, called Branko by colleagues and students, teaches courses in communication theory, organizational communication, organizational crises, leadership, and fundamentals of journalism. As editor or co-editor, Dr. Kovacic has published three books with SUNY Press: Watershed Research Traditions in Human Communication (co-edited with Donald P. Cushman), New Approaches to Organizational Communication, and Emerging Theories of Human Communication. His current research focuses on the fate of investigative reporting in Serbia and Croatia, two post-war societies that emerged after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
