Jean McGivney-Burelle is a Professor in the Mathematics Department and the Inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. She has taught first- and second-year mathematics and mathematics education courses at the University in face-to-face and online settings. Jean strives to find ways to more meaningfully engage students in learning using a range of active learning strategies. Jean pursues the scholarship of teaching and learning and is currently collaborating with math department colleagues on an NSF grant, Supporting and Sustaining Scholarly Mathematics Teaching. In her role as Executive Director, Jean works collaboratively with the Assistant Provost and Dean of Faculty Development around orienting new faculty to teaching at the University, and with the Associate Provost of Undergraduate Studies on the implementation and assessment of High Impact Practices, and supporting the development of Essential Learning Outcomes across the curriculum.
