Maggie W. Spear came to the University of Hartford's Hartt School (Community Division) in 2011. During her tenure in The Hartt School Community Division, she oversaw the growth of music, summer, and academic year program offerings. She also developed operational efficiencies to better-support families and faculty. In this role, she created unparalleled opportunities for non-degree-seeking youth and adults.
Joining The Hartt School's Admission Team in 2020, she supports students in identifying their passion and aligning it with the course of study needed to unlock their professional and artistic potential. As Director of Admission, Maggie focuses on graduate and international admission, recruitment initiatives, and admission programming.
Maggie holds a B.Mus. in Jazz Performance (trombone) with a Concentration in Music-in-Education from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA, an Ed.M. in Arts-In-Education from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA and a certificate in Polish language and culture from Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland.
When not at Hartt, she enjoys playing trombone, hanging out with her three guinea pigs, as well as hiking and camping with her husband and daughter.
