Jill Engel-Hellman (she/her/hers) has been at the University of Hartford since June 2020. As the Executive Director, she is the chief housing officer overseeing the strategy, operations, and management of a 2800-student housing program.

Jill believes it is vital to create inclusive residential communities where students know they belong and matter. She is currently a member of the President’s Steering Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, a member of the Student Experience Committee, and co-chair of the Staff Compensation Committee. Before coming to UHart she was a part of residential life programs at Denison University, the University of Maryland, Binghamton University, and Kenyon College.

Jill has served as a member of the National Housing Training Institute’s Planning Committee, as well as a faculty member for ACUHO-I’s STARS College. She also has a significant amount of experience working with campus community members impacted by sexual misconduct and gender-based violence, serving as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator at two different institutions and a member of UHart’s Campus Resource Team.
