Jessica Pawlik-York Joins ENHP as Assistant Dean

Jessica Pawlik-York joined the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP) on July 22 as assistant dean for undergraduate education.

Pawlik-York has a broad background in undergraduate education and higher education administration. She joins us from Post University in Waterbury, CT, where she served as Director of Education Programs, Program Chair for Higher Education Administration, and associate professor of education. She has served as chair of her school, as well as chair of graduate studies and the university-wide outcomes assessment committee.

Prior to Post, she held positions as Director of the Office of Exploratory Academic Advising at Fairfield University, Academic Advisor and professor for First Year Experience and Composition at Southern Connecticut State University, and Academic Advisor for the College of Human Development at Stony Brook University.

Pawlik-York serves as the treasurer for the New England Education Research Organization (NEERO). Her research interests include student attrition, online/distance learning, first-year experience, and transition programming in higher education. Her broad teaching background includes courses in education, higher education administration, American history, western civilization, women’s studies, sexuality and gender equality, instructional design, teaching English to speakers of other languages, as well as academic and skills based first-year experience seminars.

Pawlik-York holds a B.S. in Psychology from Sacred Heart University, a master’s in Women’s Studies from Southern Connecticut State University, a master’s in History from Stony Brook University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. She a former Division I soccer, collegiate national championship rugby, and professional women’s football player.
