Life After College Series Hosted by the Career Studio

The Center for Career and Professional Development (also known as The Career Studio) is launching a new program centered around educating juniors and seniors about skills needed for a successful independent life after college. This is a six-part workshop series spread over the academic year. Students are welcome to join all six or attend those of most interest. All sessions take place in The Career Studio in GSU.

Dates and topics are:

Sept. 25, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Create a Launch Plan for 5 years ahead, Expand your network via LinkedIn, and hear from the Director of CampusCT about exciting opportunities in Connecticut for soon-to-be grads.

Oct. 23, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Get matched with an alumni mentor excited to advise you on professional development questions and learn about leadership skills that make you stand out in the workplace.

Nov. 13, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Receive tips on applying for graduate school and how to ace a graduate school interview and learn about how to discuss your transferable skills.

Feb. 12, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Learn how to make a budget for yourself, the good and bad about credit cards, and how to create a salary negotiation game plan.

March 19, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Hear from a mortgage broker and a realtor on what you need to do to set yourself up for successful home buying. Learn the positives and negatives of renting and owning.

April 16, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Hear from five alums who graduated in 2023 about their first year out, tips to make your first year out smooth, and things they wish they knew about life after college when still at UHart.
