Barney and the Office of Career & Professional Development Join Forces to Teach Etiquette

The annual Professional Dining Etiquette Dinner was co-hosted this year by the Barney School of Business and the Office of Career and Professional Development on Wednesday, Nov. 8. By newly expanding reach to students of various majors and involvements across the university, 97 students were joined by 32 mentors, 24 of whom were alumni, who were seated according to their career interests or university connections

Groups ranging from the Student Government Association, ENHP, the Honors Program, Athletics, Strong Independent Sisters (SIS), Pratt & Whitney Scholars, Stanley Black & Decker Scholars, National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA), and Barney students were in attendance.

Throughout a four-course meal in the 1877 Club, a series of etiquette lessons were presented by Alex Coury ‘08, M’10, Associate Vice President for Corporate Partnerships and Career Experiences. Topics ranging from table manners, conversation do’s and don’ts, and more were taught - and then put into practice amongst the dinner.

This event is a fixture of the Corine T. Norgaard Networking and Leadership Workshops, in honor of the beloved Barney School of Business professor, distinguished scholar, and dean who passed away in 2011.
