Holiday Giving Program 2023

Flyer

The Holiday Giving Program is a UHart tradition that spreads hope and happiness throughout our local community. This program is managed by the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion, with valued support from the Office of Residential Life and the Department of Public Safety. Below are four ways to give.

South Park Inn

How to give:  Accepts personal hygiene and household items. Please review the wishlist items.

Established in 1982, South Park Inn provides a range of programs and services to assist people experiencing homelessness as they transition back to permanency. The agency’s goal is to provide a safe, temporary place to stay as individuals identify the supports and opportunities that will yield long-term housing solutions. The Village for Families & Children

How to give: Monetary donations can be made directly to The Village here. We are also collecting gift cards for their Holiday Giving Tree program at our collection sites.

The Village for Families & Children has been providing programs and services to children and families throughout Greater Hartford for over 200 years. This past year they served close to 18,000 men, women, children, and families! Last year, they collected over $45,000 in donations that were turned into gift cards for children and families in need. The families were incredibly grateful for receiving the gift cards. It gave them a sense of pride and restored their dignity to be able to purchase items for the children and families on their own. We would like to honor that once again. The Village also gives the families additional funds so they can enjoy a holiday meal and purchase clothing. The Nosh

How to give:  Accepts non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, and paper bags. Review the food pantry wishlist items.

As an approved Connecticut Foodshare pantry, The Nosh provides non-perishable, frozen food, fresh produce, toiletries, paper goods, and cleaning supplies to the University of Hartford community. This food pantry truly embodies the phrase, “Food from the Hart!” If you’re interested in learning more about The Nosh, click  here.

Howie’s Holiday Toy Drive: Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford

How to give:  Accepts unused unwrapped toys and gift cards. Please view the Boys and Girls Club wishlist.

For over 160 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford has provided a positive environment for children and teens throughout the City of Hartford. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as caring, productive, and responsible citizens.
