Call for Concepts: Exploring Democracy, Environmental Justice, and Social Justice

Mellon invites humanities-grounded ideas for research and curricular projects on any of three topics.:

  • Cultures of U.S. Democracy
  • Environmental Justice Studies
  • Social Justice and Disciplinary Knowledge

Envisioned projects should be achievable with contributions from Mellon of $250,000 – $500,000, with durations of up to three years.

The History of Art Grants

The History of Art Grants program supports scholarly projects that will enhance the appreciation and understanding of European works of art and architecture from antiquity to the early 19th century.

Grants are awarded to projects that: create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogues and publications, and technical and scientific studies.

Research Grants on Education: Small

Proposal Deadline: Dec. 6, 2023

The Small Research Grants Program supports education research projects that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived, with budgets up to $50,000 for projects ranging from one to five years. We accept applications three times per year.

Allergic Respiratory Disease Research Award

Application Deadline: Aug. 7, 2023 – Dec. 15, 2023

The Allergic Respiratory Diseases Research Award is for $75,000 per year, for up to two years. The grant aims to increase research in academic allergy and immunology divisions in an effort to increase research that ultimately leads to improved care and outcomes for patients with allergic respiratory disease. As such, the applicant must hold a doctoral degree, be in a clinical Allergy and Immunology Division (or Clinical Immunology Division), be undertaking a project related to allergic respiratory disease, and have completed training.
