photo of David GoldenbergThe Tulsa Historical Society & Museum (THSM) has announced the appointment of David H. Goldenberg as its new executive director and chief executive officer, effective June 1.

David will officially retire from the University of Hartford after more than 20 years of distinguished service this spring. He retired from his position as dean of Hillyer College in the spring of 2022, returning to the faculty and leading Hartford Athletics during a time of transition last fall.

“David has been an impactful scholar, mentor, and leader at the University for two decades,” said Acting President Stephen Mulready. “David will always step up when you need him to and he’s done so time and time again for UHart. The opportunity at THSM is a perfect fit for his skills and interests, and I know he’s thrilled to be with his family back in Oklahoma.”

David’s multifaceted career has seen him excel in roles across government, education, and business sectors. Always seeking and sharing historical truths, his experiences overseeing libraries and significant archival collections, including the Thomas Merton collection and studies center in Louisville, Kentucky, showcase his commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to work with great colleagues these past 23 years,” David says. “It was an honor to watch and help students develop along a path that led to successful careers and lives. UHart is a community that cares about bringing out the best in others and I will always be a part of it. Like the Hotel California, I’m checking out but I can’t ever leave.”

David's extensive expertise in administration, coupled with his scholarly achievements, positions him as an ideal leader to guide THSM into its next phase of growth and innovation.

Congratulations and thank you, David!
