More Than a Glitch: Confronting Race, Gender, and Ability Bias in Technology

Join us on Wednesday, April 3, at 5 p.m., in Wilde Auditorium for a lecture and Q&A with NYU Journalism Professor Meredith Broussard. Her new book, More Than a Glitch: Confronting Race, Gender, and Ability Bias in Technology dismantles the myth of tech neutrality and unpacks the ways race, class, gender, and ability bias are woven into the tech world. According to Broussard, "When technology reinforces inequality, it's not just a glitch—it's a signal that we need to redesign our systems to create a more equitable world." In her talk, Broussard, a data scientist and one of the few Black female researchers in artificial intelligence, will explore examples of these biases, lurking under the surface of everyday life.

The opportunity to consider these important issues is sponsored by the President's Commission on the Status of Women. We look forward to seeing you in Wilde on April 3.
